Amish country, Pennsylvania. Stayed in an inn over an ice-creamery where we were presented with a slab of fresh fudge every morning and walked around to the tune of faceless buggies passing in the street. Learned the ins and outs of Amish lifestyles and dietary prejudices/ indulgences (some aren’t averse to a bit of McDonalds) and how to overtake a buggy in the darkest of dark.
The piercing cold and questionable food choices left a surprisingly not-so-unpleasant taste in our mouths and if you make a trip there soon, you probably won’t find any clothes in the thrift stores. We bought them all.
