Vagrant reveries

Introducing, my favourite sweater of all time. Ever. I refuse myself permission to wear it day in day out, for fear of adding to the proliferating bobbles, but oh how I wish I could. Fine enough to drape beautifully, but heavy enough to warm my permanently cold body and HARK! Paisley!

I openly shun all those who declare paisley passé.

Sweater: vintage
Trousers: ebay? unbranded.

Please excuse the fortuitous death stare in the second photo.

With buds, and bells, and stars without a name

[source: Nicola Formichetti, Dazed and Confused, April 2009]

I know I have brought this up before and I promise to at least TRY to change the mp3, but my unadulterated addiction to layers upon layers of jewellery seems not to be fading. The process of relentlessly wearing so much of my shiny bricabrac has culminated in my once neat waterfall of chains, tower of bracelets and podium of rings transforming into a growing, gleaming mound of sad, tangled debris. As I berate myself over the mess, I can't help but notice how pretty it all looks. I like burnished mountains. Click click.

I do NOT, however, like how sneaky Office ads are. It takes note of every shoe I have obsessively stalked and mockingly thrusts them all in my face whenever I visit a new site, impetuously reminding me that I am missing out on what may potentially be THE ONE. Not nice.

Ancestral voices prophesying war

That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed,
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

Virtue unknown in nature

Happy New Year, lovely readers! I hope the dawn of the new year finds you all in good spirits? This year I’ve set myself a veritable mountain of challenges, let this be the year I reach the summit. Exciting times ahead, fo’ sho’.

This is a set I never got around to posting, woe be me should I dare to bare my arms in these conditions! My darling Winter finds me stifling my predilection for change, cowering under a raincloud of monotony where I find no shame in wearing one garment over and over. Every year, that one piece provides just the right amount of warmth, looks just the right amount of ‘odd’ and feels the right amount of right. I introduce to you my flavour of winter 09/10 (also worn here), velvet trousers. They have held my hand and seen me through the season, and so long as they continue to do so, so shall I court them.

Soup of the day: I'm off to faraway lands for the next two weeks, apologies in advance for the lack of updates.
