Epic to epigram

I live for girlie dresses, yet I covet the appeal of androgyny or ‘man chic’ as my brother and I dubbed it once upon an early teen year (tomboy days, haha). My appease comes with the congruency of my collar fetish. This shirt is a silk gem discovered in my father's wardrobe (it seems he also has unvisited darks depths in his, genetic of course), from my favourite period of all time. The collar is AMAZING, so sharp, so square, photos do it no justice.

On another note, much gratitude to the luscious-locked, ever sweet and ever stylish Shin from FashionCappuccino for bestowing on us a blog award, out first. Humbled, indeed. Ok, the link doesn't feel like working right now, but the award shall be passed on in due course. Meanwhile, be sure to visit Shin.

Perpetual uncertainty

Evidential of how simple adornment can make or break an outfit, stating the obvious, I know. My fallback outfit for life, when I can't be bothered/ don't have time to be mulling, is an oversized top/ shirt/ sweater/ blanket/ anything with skinnies/ leggings/ tights. Accessorise at will for varying levels of unboringness.

I’m beginning to have second thoughts as to whether having as many clothes as can conceivably fit into one’s wardrobe is a good thing. Of late, I find myself stuck in a creative rut - layering less, using fewer accessories, feeling less inclined to wear things the way they’re not supposed to be worn. Why? Because I’m feeling guilty for not having worn all my purchases and am desperately trying to wear each thing once, whether it’s worn well or not, just to justify having bought them. Terrible. Possession of fewer garments encourages one to experiment with what little one has, fact. I’m not promising myself not to buy anything, because let’s face it, that’s not happening anytime soon, but I’m promising myself to not feel guilty and to revert to the state of mind I reach during a new clothes drought. If you begin to find my outfits too straightforward, feel free to slap me.

In other news, dissertations aren’t fun.

Wound your mind

I love that this skirt is so flimsy, yet still manages to uphold a rather respectable pleat.

Y’know that feeling, when a certain colour calls out to you from the dark/ clutterdness of one's wardrobe? When it probes at your senses and somewhat impertinently demands to be worn? When it grabs you by the throat and shakes you to your very core, forcing itself on you, in a perhaps-not-so-unpleasant way? Kay, just me then. Blue held my hand today, and it was nice.

Please, Sir

Dear Santa,

I know I’m a tad early this year, but I’ve been ever such a good girl and truly deserve these YSL mesh godsends (so haphazardly bondage-beautifully geometric) and Alex McQ jewelled treasures (yes, sparkly feet would make me feel so good). Also, I’d like a 24 hour bug, please, as I’ve never been lucky enough to experience this elusive phenomenon. As I lie here in bed for the third day, drowning in a heap of crumpled tissues, I’m thinking I’d like to be ill for just long enough to be showered with sympathy and served yummy food, but not so long that I'm unable to get work done and resort to counting the stripes on my wallpaper for entertainment. There are 57 to the right of my bed. Thank you, Nick.
